Biography

Fannie arrived in New York with her mother and siblings after the death of her father. She married 1) David Stern and, together, they moved to St. Louis, Missouri for a time to help the family business. Eventually, that business moved to San Francisco, Calilfornia. Among the children of Fannie and David are:

  • Caroline, b. in NY

  • Sigmund
  • Louis
  • Harriet "Hattie"

In response to the note regarding which husband came first, David Stern or William Sahlein... the 1880 census details the inhabitants of William Sahlein's household including William's stepchildren, all with the last name Stern. Therefore, I propose that Fanny was married to David Stern before she was married to William Sahlein.
Strauss-635 and Strauss-195 appear to represent the same person because: Clear Duplicate
