Biography
John Peter Strauss was born about 1842 in Remich, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg, son of Mathias Strauss (1803–1861) and Anna Krier (1810–1888). (who immigrated to Buffalo in 1850). They were in the tanners and dyers business.
J. (22) married Anna Maria Lang (19) (born on September 22, 1845 in Flörsheim, Wiesbaden, Hesse-Nassau, Prussia, Germany; daughter of Jacob Lang and Catharina Westenberger) on June 1, 1865 in Buffalo, Erie. Their children were:
- Anna M. Strauss (~1867– )
- Joseph Strauss (1870–1870)
J. Peter Strauss remarried by 1871 after the death of his wife, Anna Maria Lang, to Maria Hartmann (the daughter of Joseph Hartman & Barbara Krauss).
J. died on May 8, 1907 in Buffalo, Erie, New York, United States, aged 64.
