Biography

Anne was born in 1843. She was baptised on 20 Nov 1843 at Newcastle, Co. Wicklow.[1][2] In 1871 she was married to Richard Allen at Dublin City.[3] According to the 1901 Census, Anne Stringer, by then a widow, was living at 2 Wave Crest, Bray, Co. Wicklow, with her four children, all of whom were unmarried. In 1911 she was still living at that address in Bray. Living with her then were her two daughters, Sarah Frances, a governess, and Susannah May. It would seem that she died during the fourth quarter of 1916 at Athy, Co. My father, Richard, had memories of his grandmother being a rather stern old lady, which would tie in with her living in Bray when he was aged seven or eight. So she would have died before he moved with his parents from Dublin to Aberdeen in 1920/21.
