Edward Callahan was born in 1791. He is the son of William Strong and Jane Callahan.
Edward inherited a portion of his father's home farm in Breathitt Co. KY and acquired other lands by purchases he made from his brothers and sisters.
On 22 Apr 1816, a 20 acre land grant was surveyed for him on the North Fork of the Kentucky River, and he owned other land grants after 1837. He owned a total of 3425 acres, which his children inherited when he died.
He raised his family near the old home of his father. The Old Strong Cemetery is located there.
