Selah Strong (1737-1815) married Anna Smith, daughter of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the colony of New York in 1760. He served in the American Revolution as a captain and was member of the Culper Spy Ring of Setauket, Long Island. Selah fought in the Battle of Long Island, and was captured and held on the British prison ship "Jersey". He was the first judge of the Court of Common Pleas, a senator from 1792 to 1800, and treasurer of Suffolk County from 1786 to 1802.
