John Chester Strong was born in August or September 1846 in Massachusetts to parents [strong-2394|John Henry Strong]], born in Montreal, Canada on 5 Jan 1821 and Harriet Burnham (Reed) Strong, born in 1827 in Vermont.
The 1895 Minnesota State census[1] shows John C. Strong, aged 48, living in Athens, Isanti, Minnesota in a household headed by his father, John S. Strong, born in Canada, and his 39-year-old brother, Erastus, born in New Jersey, as well as 23-year-old Hattie Horstman and her sons, Arthur, 4, and Lawrence, 3. This census reports that all three men had lived in Minnesota for 39 years, and in that enumeration district for 35 years and two months. That Erastus was born in New Jersey 39 years earlier also speaks to the migration trail the Strong family had taken.
He died, widowed, on 4 Apr 1910 at the age of 63 years and 7 months, in Anoka, Minnesota.[2]
