Biography

Wickliffe was born in 1885. He was the son of John Wilson Strother and Amanda Maud Horton.

On 16 Jun 1907, Wickliffe married Inez Wilhoit.[1]

Biography:

"...banker, civic leader and businessman...educated in the public schools of Grayson and Kentucky University (now Transylvania College) at Lexington; became connected with the Commercial Bank of Grayson early in life and has since served that institution in many capacities, except for about five years when he was cashier of the Bank of Carrollton at Carrollton, Alabama. He was serving as vice-president when the president of the bank, his father, died and he succeeded him as president and is presently holding that position.
Mr. Strother is civic minded and has always been active in community affairs. He was instrumental in securing lights and warer for Grayson, being one of the organizers and stock holders of both companies. WHen the Eastern Kentucky Railway became defunct and ceased to operate, he assisted in promoting and operating a transportation systems (the blue goose) over the railroad tracks from Grayson to Webbville.
Mr. Strother is a Democrat and a member of the First Christian Church at Grayson. He is a charter member of the Rotary Club at Grayson; sold War Bonds during World War II and is active in crippled children work and cancer drives."

Wickliffe passed away in 1967[2] and is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Grayson, Kentucky.Find A Grave Memorial no longer online as of Oct 2019
