Anthony Strother was a son of William Strother and Margaret Thornton. He first married in 1753 to Behethland Storke, and after her death, to Mary James.
Anthony was a prominent merchant in and around Fredericksburg. He was usually styled of King George County.
His will was dated 29th August 1765 wherein he styled himself of the Parish of Overwharton and County of Stafford. He instructed his estate be kept together for the support of his wife and children for a period of not more than ten years after his death, then to be equally divided between his widow and children. He excepted his son Anthony, for whom he felt he'd provided more than he could for the others. He named his widow as his executrix, the burden of which she refused, and Joseph Jones, Esq. was thereafter qualified.[1]
Anthony Strother signed an April 7, 1757, Guardian Bond for Frances Kenyon, a minor and orphan, King George County, Virginia. She later married his son Anthony Strother, Jr.
