Mary was born around 1784 in either Ireland or Scotland. She came to South Carolina with her family around 1795 (estimated from record of Francis Stewarts arrival).
Mary was named in Francis Stewarts will receiving "a small tract of land lying on Beards' fork of Duncans Creek containing thirty seven acres more or less bounded by the lands of Hugh McKelvey. Robert H Little, Francis Stewart and others, otherwise known as Shepherds Tract." [1]
