Godfrey Leslie Stuart was born on 5 February 1896 in Tatarariki, Wairoa, New Zealand.[1] He was the son of Andrew Godfrey William Stuart and his wife Mary Georgina Rowland.

He was a Corporal in the NZEF Auckland Regiment 2nd Battalion. He received the Distinguished Conduct Medal.

He passed away in 1918 in France and is buried in Le Quesnoy Communal Cemetery. [2]
