Andrew Godfrey Stuart was born on 23 February 1841 in Williamstown, Melbourne, New South Wales, Australia. He was the son of Andrew Thomas STUART and his wife Mary (GILMOUR) STUART.^[1]

From the Obituary of his father: His eldest son residing in New Zealand was the second white man born at Williamstown. Dr. McCreedy’s son being the first, and both were born in the house of Mr. Stuart’s cousin, Mr. Stafford, Custom House officer at that time.^[2]

He was baptised on 25 June 1841 in the parish of St. James, Melbourne, New South Wales, Australia.

He passed away in 1911 in Northern Wairoa, New Zealand.^[3][4]

Education

Andrew Godfrey STUART (11), son of Andrew Thomas STUART of Port Arthur, was enrolled at Hutchins School on 9 February 1853.^[5] His brother George Joseph STUART (10) was enrolled the same day.

STUART—WILSON.—Married on the 20th July, 1868, at Glenorchy, .by. the Rev. C. Simson, Andrew Godfrey Stuart, eldest son of T. G. Stuart, Esq., Sandy Bay, to Rosa, youngest daughter of the Late William Borradail Wilson, late of Clarendon, Macquarie Plains, Esq..^[6]

Rev. Charles LAWSON conducted the ceremony according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Church of Scotland; the witnesses being Ellen WILSON and Medland MITCHEL.^[7]
