Rear-Admiral Lord George Stuart was born on 1 March 1780. He was the son of John Stuart (1st Marquess of the County of Bute) and his wife Hon. Charlotte Jane Windsor.
"Whitehall June 14 1815. His Royal Highness the Prince Regent, acting in the name and on behalf of His Majesty, has been graciously pleased to nominate and appoint the under-mentioned officers, belonging to his Majesty's naval and military forces, to be Companions of the Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath, in conformity with the ordinance relating to the third class of the said Order, as published in the London Gazette of the 2nd of January, 1815.........Captain Lord George Stuart.........." He died on 19 February 1841 at age 60 at Balls Park, Hertfordshire, England.
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.
He was commissioned in November 1793, in the service of the Royal Navy. He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 21 March 1801. He gained the rank of Commander on 22 April 1802. He gained the rank of Post-Captain on 3 March 1804. He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral on 10 January 1837.
On 7 October 1800 George Stuart was married to Jane Stewart the daughter of Maj.-Gen. James Stewart, .
