Nancy was born about 1823. She was the daughter of Coleman Stubblefield and Martha Looney. Nancy pased away in 1880 and was buried in the Upshaw Cemetery, Rndolph County, Arkansas.[1]
29 Jun 1843: Nancy Stubblefield and Thomas B. Rice are married in Randolph County, Arkansas. The record notes that Nancy was 20 years old.[2][3]
1850 Census: Nancy and Thomas B. (31) Rice are living in Randolph County, Arkansas. The record shows that Nancy was 24 and that she had been born in Arkansas. The couple have 2 children in their home: Ruben (6) and Lydia (1).[4]
1860 Census: Nancy continues to live in Randolph County, Arkansas. Her oldest son Rubin, now 16, is listed on the census as a farmer and Nancy is shown as "House Keeper". In addition to Rubin, there are 5 other children in the home: Lydia (11), Redman S. (9), Sintha H. (5), Thomas B. (4), and Lettie (2).[6]
2 Jan 1862: Nancy Rice and John Harrison are married in Randolph County, Arkansas. The record indicates that Nancy was 40 years old and a resident of Rnadolph County.[7][8]
Nancy lived in the Rice-Upshaw House where she raised her children. She married [[Rice-1498|Thomas Blackman Rice in 1843.[9] Their children were:
John was a nearby widower who also had a household full of children. John and Mary are thought to have only had one child :Mary Harrison 1863 -
By 1870, Nancy's children were living with relatives.
Her grave is unmarked.
