Word has been received of the death last Friday of Shirley Stump, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Presley Stump of Redondo Beach, Cal., formerly of Gilmer in this county. He was caught in an explosion in an oil plant where he worked at Redondo Beach, and was so terribly burned that he lived but a few minutes. The dead boy was about 21 years of age and was a grandson of the late Philip Judy of this county. The family is an old and well known one In the vicinity. They have lived In California for about ten years. A vounsjer brother, Burnet, has recently joined the U. S. navy, and the family do not know of his whereabouts and cannot notify him of his brother's death. There is one other son. older than Shirley.[1]
