Biography

John H. Stump III, 68, died Monday, September 1, 2003 at his residence in North Hopewell Twp. He was the husband of Etta L. (Schell) Stump, to whom he was married for 49 years.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Home Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York Twp. A viewing will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m., and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Stump was born November 28, 1934 in Dallastown, the son of the late John A. and Helen G. (McCoy) Stump. He was employed as a Supervisor for various companies, retiring in 1996, through his career he worked for, York Stone and Supply, Dic-O-Sidomatic, Precision Components and Continental Wire and Cable. He was a 1952 graduate of Dallastown High School and a United States Navy Veteran.

Mr. Stump is also survived by two sons, John H. Stump IV and Brian K. Stump, both of York; one daughter, Erma F. Stump of Red Lion; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Helen L. Reisinger of Red Lion, Grace H. Hunter of York, Phyllis A. Stump of Dallastown and Linda M. Sweitzer of Seven Valleys; several nieces & nephews.
