Memories: 1
Enter a personal reminiscence or story.
Lodena having only been married for seven years, gave birth to three children. She died at the age of 27 a month after the birth of her last child. One life so short with little to no formal documentation. The only census record found was the 1880 census. She died in 1907, the only documentation was a torn Bible page. She was buried in an unmarked grave where later her husband would also be lain to rest. Lodena's husband faced with the task of rearing three small children, found an older woman, Margarett Ware to accept the responsibly for loving and caring for this family. Family oral history credits her, a woman who had never been married nor given birth, as being a good wife and step mother. My loving thanks to both women, my great grandmother and my step great grandmother!
