Biography

Silvesta Sullivan was born in Stafford County, Virginia in 1757, the daughter of Jonas Sullivan and Frances Shelton. ^[1] She married Absalom Newton in 1876. ^[2] They were the parents of Josie, Catherine, ^[3] Bertha (Birdie), James, (Richard) Alvin, Brodie, Lilian, Maurice, Nellie, and Noony. ^[4] Absolom died in 1912; the 1930 census shows Silvesta living with daughter Birdie and her family. ^[5] Silvesta died July 21, 1932. ^[6]
