Biography

Grace Pearl 'Gracie' Summers was born September 26, 1894 and is the daughter of Tillman J Summers & Margaret M 'Maggie' Shaw. Gracie grew up in Monongalia County, West Virginia along with five siblings.

Gracie married Charles Joshua 'Charlie' Keener May 30, 1912^[1] and they made their home in Morgantown, West Virginia until her death February 24, 1959.^[2] Together they raised seven children; Wilbert Otis Keener, Clarence John Keener, Sr, Page Alexander Keener, Gertrude Marie Keener, Mary Magdalene Keener, Leona Mae Keener and Clifford Blaine Keener, Sr.^[3] Gracie is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Morgantown, West Virginia.^[4]

Obituary

• Age 65, of Rock Forge, died unexpectedly on Tuesday evening. She was the d/o the late Tillman and Margaret Shaw Summers, and was born Sept. 26, 1894 in Monongalia County.
• Survivors include her husband, Charles Keener; four sons, Wilbert and Clarence, both of Rt. 6 Morgantown, Clifford of Rt. 3 Morgantown, and Page of Paden City; three daughters, Mrs. Magdalene Ayersman of Sabraton, Mrs. Leona Uphold of Sabraton, Mrs. Gertrude Taylor of Madison, O.; four brothers, and one sister. Interment was in the Pleasant Hills Cemetery.^[5]

• Nieman Clan History compiled by Helen Marie (Newcomer) Maust. Aunt Helen attended most all the Nieman Family Reunions and the Frankhouser Family Reunions. She gathered information from family members who attended the Reunions over the years sharing information about family lore and updated information about each branch. Around 1980 she put information together by typewriter and created a very large document that included all of the information about the Nieman and Frankhouser clans. Both branches intertwined in various ways and trace back to the common ancestors of John Blosser who emigrated from Switzerland and was of German origin.
