Bio: Fielding was born 14 Oct 1769 In Albemarle County, VA. to William Sumpter, b. 29 Oct 1731, and Judith Randall Sumpter. William Sumpter was a Captain in the Revolutionary War and brother to General Thomas Sumpter who settled in SC. William and Judith moved their family to Burke Co., NC before the Revolutionary war.

Fielding and wife Sarah (LNU but possibly Sallee) were married 16 May 1798 in Burke Co., NC. They had 11 children. Their son William was born Burke Co, NC in 1892, Robert b. 1805 KY, Joseph b. 7 Feb 1805 Burke Co., NC, James b. abt 1808 Knox Co., TN or Burke Co., NC, Isaac Anderson b. 17 May 1813 Wayne Co, KY, Edmundson b. Aug 1815 in TN or Wayne Co., KY, Samantha b. bet. 1818-1820 SC, Thomas b. Wayne Co., KY, Henry b. abt 1822 Wayne Co., KY, Mary Ann "Polly" b. Aug 1824 Wayne Co., KY.

By the 1840 census they were living in Monroe Co., Mo. Fielding's daughter Samantha married John A. Hyatt son of Charles and Catherine Hyatt both bu. in the Capp Cem. Fielding and Sarah had owned land across from the Capp cemetery area and I have found reference to them being in the Capp cem. However, with the destruction and unkept state we could not find a tombstone for Fielding.
