Powers

Supervisors are a special class of volunteers who are entrusted with a few extraordinary "Super Powers":

Supervisors also hear about new and forthcoming features sooner than average contributors, and have a deeper level of input on their development.

Responsibilities

With great power comes great responsibility.

Supervisors must be exemplars of our Honor Code. They must act with great care and sensitivity, and show respect for all members of the WikiTree community. This is not always easy.

Supervisors must be willing to help other WikiTree members who will be looking to them as leaders.

If a Supervisor is unclear about how something works or finds a problem they need to take responsibility for asking about it in G2G, alerting another Supervisor, and/or contacting a team member.

Requirements

To be a nominated, a member must:

Nomination

Supervisors are nominated by current Supervisors.

The nomination is made in our private e-mail discussion group. It should include a few examples of why the person meets the requirements.

Other Supervisors have two days to object. Objections should be sent privately to the person who made the nomination and/or Chris.

After two days, the person who made the nomination or Chris should invite the person to view this page and consider whether they'll accept.

Resignation and Termination

Supervisors can resign their supervisory status at any time without it affecting their membership in the community. Being a Supervisor isn't a lifelong commitment. :-)

Termination may be necessary if a Supervisor can't be reached, is away from WikiTree for an extended period of time, or violates specific Supervisor requirements or general WikiTree policies.
