Birth

Alexander McDonald Cornfute Sutherland was born in Sangomore, Durness Parish, Sutherland, Scotland, United Kingdom, at noon on 12 August 1859. His mother was Hughina Morison. His father, Robert Sutherland, was present at the birth and was the informant who registered Alexander's birth on 16 August 1859, witnessed by Peter Cameron, Registrar of Durness Parish. ^[1] Alexander was the fifth of six chldren raised by Robert Sutherland and Hughina Morison.

Alexander was born into a family with four older siblings.
