Biography

Eleanor Marjorie Sutliff, daughter of Harry Omer Sutliff Sr. and Ethel Margaret Ford, was born on 27 Mar 1916 in Paradise, Eddy (Ward), North Dakota, USA. Known her whole life as Marjorie, she died on 20 Jun 2007 in Cathedral City, Riverside, California, USA at age 91, and was buried on 2 Aug 2007 in Westminster Memorial Park, Westminster, Orange, California, USA. The cause of her death was pancreatic cancer which had been diagnosed four months before her death. She lays at rest next to her beloved husband. [1]


On 16 Sep 1935 in Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan, USA, Chester Archie Kelley Sr. and Marjorie obtained a marriage license and were married two days later in Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan, USA.

From 1935 through 1946 Marjorie gave birth to seven children; four boys and three girls.

Marjorie's husband, Chester, died in 1968. She next married Richard Dale Zimmerman on 16 Jan 1971 in Clark County, Nevada, USA. This marriage ended in divorce on 8 Nov 1978.

In May 2001, over the course of several days, her daughter, Joan M. Kelley Elmer, interviewed, tape recorded, and transcribed to print Marjorie's views on life regarding many subjects including family history. The following is an example;

Q. What was your favorite color between being a young child and 12 year old? Between teen and 49 years old? Between 50 years old and the present? A. Bright yellow. A. Blue. A. Pink.

Q. Which do you like better, cats or dogs A. Dogs. She said cats don't care for her either.

Q. What is the most significant advancement in the 20th Century? A. Medicine.

Q. Do you believe in the death penalty? A. Yes and no. In the instance of Timothy McVeigh, then yes.

Q. If you could come back in your next life as an animal, what would that animal be? A. A horse.

Q. What pet would you least likely have? A. A snake.

Q. Which generation had it tougher growing up, your parents, yours, your children? A. My parents

Q. Do you believe that ghost/spirits co-exist with the living? A. Yes

Q. Do you believe that extra terrrestrials are living on other planets in other galaxies? A. Yes

Q. Name something that you always wanted to do, but never did. A. Watercolor

Q. Name a state that you've always wanted to visit but never did. A. Alaska. (That was to have been Marjorie's and Chester's next vacation)
