Richard Sutton was born on 18 July 1676 in Piscataway, Middlesex, New Jersey to William Sutton (1641-1717) and Damaris Bishop (1646-1682).

Thomas Bishop Sutton born 11 November 1669 in Eastham, Massachusetts. He married Mary Adams of Woodbridge in April 1693.
Mary Sutton born 4 October 1671 in Eastham, Massachusetts. She married Daniel McDaniel on 23 December 1689.
John Sutton born 20 April 1674 in Piscataway, New Jersey. He married Elizabeth Conger in about 1695. John died after 17 December 1746 and before 20 December 1750.[1]
Judah Aubel Sutton born 24 January 1675 in Piscataway, New Jersey. He married Emma Canter/Carter/Cauter on 6 May 1698.
Joseph Sutton born 27 June 1678 in Piscataway, New Jersey. He died on 19 December 1682 in the same place.
Benjamin Sutton born 24 February 1680 in Piscataway, New Jersey. He died on 22 December 1682.
Daniel Sutton born 25 February 1682 in Piscataway, New Jersey. Daniel married Patience Martin on 31 October 1704. [2]
Given to the Giles family
In a footnote in "Contributions to the early history of Perth Amboy and adjoining country" (1856), William Whitehead wrote:
"On the 25th Nov, 1682, William Sutton voluntarily gives his son Richard to James and Elizabeth Giles , until he shall be 21 --they agreeing to do for him 'as for their own.' " [3] ( He may be referring to James Giles (abt.1626-1690). (A primary source for this information is being sought.)
Marriages and Family
Richard married Sarah Runyon (born 30 October 1686 in Elizabeth Town, New Jersey - died after 1736 when she married a second time. She was the daughter of the famous Huguenot Vincent Rongnion (about 1645-1713) and Anne Boutcher (about 1651-1723).
Jonas Sutton born 18 April 1721. He married Elizabeth Runyan (1731-? ) on 22 September 1764 in the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Piscataway, New Jersey.[4]She was the daughter of Peter Runyon (1680-1755) and granddaughter of Vincent Rongnion.
Amos Sutton born 16 July 1723. He married Jane Clawson (about 1728-about 1758) in about 1748. Amos died after 1793 in Woodbridge, Middlesex, New Jersey, USA.
His will dated 8 September 1722 states that he is of Piscataway, Middlesex and he is a yeoman (farmer). The only child mentioned by name was Nathan. Wife Sarah, brother Daniel Sutton and brother-in-law Peter Runyon were executors. The will was proved on 28 February 1732.
Death
Richard died in about February 1732 in Piscataway, Middlesex, New Jersey at the age of 55.
