Biography

Asaneth / Aseneth was born in about 1760 in New Jersey. The dau of Amariah Sutton and Mary Haines. Asenath was named "Esnath" as an heir in her father, Amariah Sutton's will of 11 Nov 1816. She received a share land from her father's estate. Her husband Aaron Hagerman and Rev Henry Lenhart were trustees of the estate. [1]

Asaneth is named in her husband's (Aaron Hagerman) will was recorded in Lycoming Co, PA, Will Book 1, page 189-190, and dated 9 March 1829. [2]

Asenath Sutton Hagerman's will was dated 29 Sep 1832 and recorded in Will Book 1 p. 255; at 20 Sep 1834 her will was probated. Named granddau Susan Green to receive one bed, bedstead and bedding; grandson Aaron Green and her daughter Mary "Vananda" each $10 but gave $20 to her son Amariah Hagerman. All such other personal property was to be equally divided between her heirs. Her four daughters Sarah Green, Susan Ayers, "Esenith" Hinkle (as wife of Michael Hinkle) and Hannah Hagerman were to have the land or lot in Loyalsock Township left to her by her late father Amariah Sutton in equal shares. This land adjoined that of Amariah H Williams and Isaac Lyon and the heirs of John Rose, Esq deceased and those of Amariah Sutton containing her fifty acres more of less. She indicated that the portions of the estate in cash and personal property be settled within twelve months of her death. The will named as executors Hannah Hagerman and Thomas Hays, with witnesses being Moses Mahaffey and Oliver Watson. Asenath Hagerman's signature and seal were applied to the document. John Vanderbilt, Registrar for the probate of wills, granted letters of administration to Hannah Hagerman and Thomas Hays. [3]
