Biography

SOURCES/VERIFICATION OF MARRIAGES IS NEEDED AS WELL AS HER MOTHER

Sarah was born about 1650, perhaps the daughter of George Sutton (1613 - 1669) and Elizabeth Berkeley. [1][2]

Sarah Sutton Cox Barrow BIRTH 15 Sep 1650 Scituate, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, USA DEATH 16 Sep 1714 (aged 64) Perquimans County, North Carolina, USA BURIAL Unknown MEMORIAL ID 54959978 · View Source

Notes from marguerite brown: added 10/03/2020 I do not believe the following citation* about her marriages are correct. There is no mention of a husband named Trembly on her FInd-a-Grave site. John Barrow and Philp Cox are both mentioned, but John died in 1718, 42 years before Cox, so it is only logical that she was first married to John Barrow, and married Cox after his death. I certainly won't delete it, as I could be quite wrong! (*Sarah married 1st to George Trembly. Sarah married 2nd to Isaac Cox, son of Philip Cox. [3])

Sarah married John Barrow they had 9 children who were:

  1. Johannah,
  2. Major William,
  3. John Barrow Jr,
  4. Elizabeth,
  5. Ann,
  6. Sarah,
  7. George,
  8. James and
  9. Joseph.

Sarah died in 1714 in North Carolina[4]

Where did the name Stockall come from?

Sarah Sutton who was the wife of John Barrow and daughter of George Sutton and Sarah Tilden was not the Sarah Sutton who was the first wife of Isaac Cox. That Sarah Sutton was the daughter of Sir Henry Sutton and Elizabeth Berkeley, an unrelated family. That Sarah Sutton was the widow of Marquis George Trembley when she married Isaac Cox.

I removed it from middle name field as it was unsourced (and unlikely). I left a research note.

Sutton-83 and Sutton-76 appear to represent the same person because: same parents and spouse, online records show she was born in Scituate

Sutton-2536 and Sutton-76 are not ready to be merged because: Date and place of death are in conflict. Past mergers should be looked at.

Sutton-2536 and Sutton-76 appear to represent the same person because: birth is the same, as is one of the husbands. The difference in death dates makes me wonder if an incorrect merge was done, and there are actually 2 profiles mixed on Sutton-76

Johanna Barrow was born 10 July 1669. This would mean Sarah would have married Isaac in 1667 or before. Phillip would have to have been born before her. There is no listing of him as her child while married to John. Did Isacc and Phillip die together? This entry needs more research for authentication.
