Johannes was born the 25th and baptized the 26th day of July 1818, son of [Klockare?] Magnus Svensson and Anna Lisa Nilsdotter, in Åker.[1]
John was the organist for Ormesberga parish in Kronoberg, Sweden. As such he was a well-educated man for the times. He may have been the teacher of his wife's next younger brother Peter, who qualified as an organist in Ormesberga before Sara's entire family plus John (Johannes) and their son emigrated to the United States in 1855.
