Biography

Jacobus was baptized on 29 March 1696 in the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, New York, recorded as the child of Antonie Swartwoud and Jannetje Coobes.

At his children's baptisms he was identified as "Jacobus Swartwoud, junior." This does not mean that his father was named Jacobus. In the Dutch Reformed Church records "junior" is usually a translation of "younger"; it hardly ever means that the person is the son of a person with the same name. "Junior" is used because there is likely a person of the same baptizing children around the same time.

Death: 21 AUG 1756 Kingston, Ulster, New York, United States[1]
