Biography

2nd Lt Bertrand Sweeney served in the United States Army in World War I
Service started: 3 Apr 1917

Service ended: 21 May 1919

Bertrand Nash Sweeney was president of the Rayne State Bank & Trust Company. He drowned when his boat capsized while riding into a duck blind with his son, Woody, on 23 Nov 1943 at Henderson Lake in St. Marin Parish. At the time of his death, Mr. Sweeney was a candidate for Louisiana state senator for the 16th District, as well as chairman of the Selective Service Board in Rayne. He was survived by his wife, daughter, and two sons.[1]
