Sweet, Samuel Metheral Summerside Journal - 30 October 1918, page 5, col. 4
There passed peacefully away at Knutsford, after a long illness, which he bore with patience, Samuel Metheral Sweet, in the sixty-ninth year of his age. He was the son of John and Susan Metheral Sweet of Cascumpec. By his death he has most vividly exemplified the frailty of human nature. One of the strongest of constitutions and most robust physique he appeared able to endure almost any hardships until thirteen months previous he was stricken with a fatal malady, which seemed to baffle medical skill although at times he would appear to rally yet there seemed no permanent cure and on October 15th the spirit returned to God who gave it. During his illness he assured his friends he had given up the things of this world and was looking forward to a home in Heaven. Starting out in life very young to make him self a home out of the primeval forest, his wishes were more then realized and at his death was one of the most prosperous farmers of Prince County.
The late Mr. Sweet was twice married. His first wife was Miss Annie Gorman. To this union there were born one son, Frank of Knutsford, and three daughters' Mrs Sadye Murray, Piusville, Mrs. Susan Cannon, St. Eleanors and Mrs Nellie Murray, Elmsdale. His second wife Miss Bella Murray who still survives him along with the three children, Murray, Charlotte, and Percy all at home. He also leaves two brothers, John and Francis of Cascumpec and two sisters, Mrs Jemina Gibbs, Mill Road and Mrs. Elizabeth Williams, O'Leary. The funeral was held on Wednesday to the Knutsford Methodist cemetery. Services at the house were conducted by Rev. Mr. Brodie assisted by Mrs. Brodie and Rev. Mr. Mellick and at the grave by Rev. Mr. Brodie. The funeral was largely attended showing the high esteem in which he was held.
