Nathan was born in 1844 in Dorchester, Ontario. He married Martha Gee.[1] His brother Sheldon, married her sister Elizabeth Gee. Nathan was a Harness Maker[2] by trade and although he wasn't wealthy he was well off. He and Martha had 8 children. One day he came home from work not feeling well, and did not have supper, just went to bed. He died of pneumonia during the night. Martha kept their home until the youngest two girls were of age to travel, and she went to Seattle to visit her son.
