So who is this Edward Sweeten living 1790 in Morgan District (14th Company), Rutherford Co., NC, where also resided Robert and John Sweeten? These three are together on the census as though neighbors. Robert has 1 male over 16, none under 16, and 1 female (newly married couple?); John has 1 male over 16, 1 male under 16, and 4 females (slightly longer married?); Edward has 3 males over 16, 2 males under 16, and 4 females (older married). From this profile it looks as though Edward is the eldest (probably their father), then John, then Robert. This Dutton Sweeten is listed just before Edmund Tugman (1 male over 16, 2 females) and Thomas Tugman (1 male over 16, 2 males under 16, 2 females). Robert Sweeton is listed on the same page. If this Robert Sweeton is the son of Dutton, then he must be already married, with a wife and daughter. This separation of families is supported by the listing of Dutton and Robert as separate heads of household in the 1784-1787 NC State Census above.
