Biography

Welthie Amena Sweeting was born 23 March 1887 in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas to Jeremiah Sweeting and his second wife, Euphemia Roberts Sweeting.

The Sweeting family emigrated to Florida about 1890. The family first appeared in the 1900 US Federal Census in Key West.

Welthie married twice: first, to Julius Victor Pinder, son of Jeremiah Pinder and Matilda Jane Sawyer Pinder, 11 July 1903, in Key West, Florida; and second, 30 August 1944, to William Pinder, son of Henry Capern Pinder and his second wife, Agnes Knowles Pinder, in Key West.

Welthie and Julius had children Jessie Vandeline, Maitland, Hilary Thomas, and Leota Isabel Pinder.

Welthie Sweeting Pinder died 9 October 1966 in Key West, Florida at 79 years of age. She was buried in the City Cemetery.
