Biography

My great Aunt Flossie was married to Rev. William Greer Martin. He was known as 'Greer'. She was a evangelist / preacher and met Greer, family tradition is she won him to the Lord and he became a Minister. Together they pastored the Sand Branch Assembly Of God Church in Seogoville, Texas.

They did not have any children. Rev. Greer Martin is not related to the Martin side of our family but was a beloved Uncle to Carl and great uncle to his children. Carl looked on him as a father since he was only four when his own father died.

The above from a family history I, Lynna Lunsford was given by another member of our family. My own personal remembrances Aunt Flossie and Uncle Greer were nice people, lived Holy, did not watch television. Uncle Greer had been injured in the war and always wore a metal brace on one foot that was made into the shoe he wore.

They never had any children of their own but unofficially 'adopted' Teresa a young girl who had polio and who had to use crutches because of the injury by the polio disease. I loved playing and hanging out with Teresa when Uncle Greer and Aunt Flossie brought her with them to visit my great grandmother Vista Martin and great Aunt Nellie Roach. Vista & Nellie were both widowed and shared a home after the deaths of their husbands. Neither of them ever remarried.

They never had any children but unofficially 'adopted' a young girl named 'Teresa' who had contracted polio as a child. She became a part of their family ( and ours ) and was often with them during our family gatherings.
