Eileen Sykes was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire in 1897, daughter of Lieut.-Colonel Herbert Higginson Sykes, VD, of Briar Court, Lindley, Huddersfield. She married William TOZER in 1919 and they had two children, Gordon, born in 1921 and Pauline TOZER in 1922.
After their marriage, William and Eileen lived at Grange Cliffe, Eccleshall, Sheffield, 1919-34, and then Sugworth Hall, Bradfield Dale, near Sheffield, 1934-9. When war started in 1939, they took a lease on Totley Hall, Totley, near Sheffield. After the war they moved again to Burr Hill, East Grinstead, West Sussex. Eileen died of cancer in 1958, aged 61, and was buried in Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey.
