BIography

No parents should be connected to this profile.

All that is known is that Christiane was the wife of Ketel son of Eldred, an Anglo Saxon lord in the Cumbrian area between Scottish and English control.

Currently there is no reputable source for Christiane being the legitimate daughter of Ivo de Tallebois, who was said to have had only one heir, and certainly no evidence that she is the daughter of Lucy of Mercia.

The proposals linking her to Ivo de Tallebois relate to her husband being a known relative of William de Lancaster I, who was said to have used the surname Tailleboys when younger (in a much later source). However, there seeks to be no chance or very little that Gilbert and Christiane could simply be children of Ivo, and certainly not of his wife the Countess Lucia.

The most contemporary documents refer to Ketel as an uncle of William, and specifically the word used (avunculus) should mean a maternal uncle meaning that Ketel might be William's mother's brother, which makes sense because her name was also Anglo-Saxon (Godith). On the other hand, if the word was used loosely, as it often was, then it could be that the relationship was through Christiane, who indeed has a French name like William and his father Gilbert, and might therefore be a sister to Gilbert.

Caution should be taken not to create impossible relationships such as marrying her with a brother or uncle. But it is possible that Ketel could be an uncle of William de Lancaster in two ways (through his wife, and through Gilbert's) if there was a double marriage to link the two families, French and English. On the other hand there is no sensible proposal for the name of Gilbert and Christiane's possible common parents.

The profile is project protected. Can someone please disconnect the parents, and the Rosgill son? I think the LNAB, though speculative, is a reasonable guess, so not as urgent as some other changes needed in this family. (Or it is safer to remove that also?)

To answer the question other raised before: the mistake being proposed here and on other websites comes from an oversimplification of a speculation by serious genealogists that Christina (surname unknown) the wife of Ketel, might have been a Taillebois relative. No serious genealogist ever went as far as saying she would be a daughter of Ivo de Taillebois specifically.

Obvious problem: we have Christiana being the daughter of her father in law, father. She should be de-linked from these parents.

First glance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivo_Taillebois

notes 2 daughters, with 2 wives..Lucy Mercia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucy_of_Bolingbroke does not appear to have a dau called Christina. I looked on geni and whilst they also have her as wife of Ketel the view is that it is improbable that she is daughter of Ivo Taillebois so jury out on this relationship?

FMG has no lastname or parents for Ketel Lancaster's wife Christiana. She is not shown as a daughter of Ivo Taillebois. Does anyone have a source for her name/parents?
