Biography

Ann was born in 1836. She is the daughter of James Tait and Margaret. In the 1841 census, Ann is aged 5, living with her father James, mother Margaret, and siblings Elizabeth, Thomas and Jean. Ann's father was a slate quarrier. The family were living in Alterston, Stobo.

Research Notes

Father is most likely to be James Nicol Tait (rather than John Nicol Tait), baptised in Taquair, Peebles in 1803.
