Biography

James Tait was born in 1844. He is the son of James Tait and Margaret. In the 1851 census, he is living with his father James, mother Margaret, and siblings Elizabeth, Jean and Margaret. His father was a slate quarrier.

Research Notes

Father is most likely to be James Nicol Tait (rather than John Nicol Tait), baptised in Taquair, Peebles in 1803.
