Biography
Hillary was born in 1810 in South Carolina. He is understood to be the son of John Talbert and Nancy Collier Talbert. Hillary was in Yalobusha County, Mississippi by at least 1840. [1] He was likely in Mississippi somewhat earlier. In 1839 there is a letter for him at the post office in Yazoo City, Mississippi. [2] In 1850 Hillary and wife Martha are enumerated on the federal census in Yalobusha County, Mississippi. [3]
