Ninian Bazel Tannehill was born in 1747 in Maryland.[1] He was a son of John Tannehill and Rachel (Adamson) Tannehill.[citation needed]

Ninian Tannehill served as a Lieutenant in the combined Maryland and Virginia Rifle Regiment formed in 1776, under Colonel Hugh Stephenson, in the command of Colonel Daniel Morgan. He was one of the brave soldiers who gave his life on 16 Nov 1776 at the Battle of Fort Washington.[2]

Ninian married Agnes Coulter per his DAR record. [1] At least one child was born to Ninian and Agnes Tannehill:

  • Melzar, m. Eleanor Lyle[1]

Ninian Bazel Tannehill was killed in the line of duty on 16 Nov 1776 at Fort Washington, New York.[1]
