Ninian Bazel Tannehill was born in 1747 in Maryland.[1] He was a son of John Tannehill and Rachel (Adamson) Tannehill.[citation needed]
Ninian Tannehill served as a Lieutenant in the combined Maryland and Virginia Rifle Regiment formed in 1776, under Colonel Hugh Stephenson, in the command of Colonel Daniel Morgan. He was one of the brave soldiers who gave his life on 16 Nov 1776 at the Battle of Fort Washington.[2]
