Biography
Dennis Weed Tanner was born on 18 May 1827 in Catlin, New York to parents Peleg Tanner and Cynthia Carter. He married Letitia (Lettie) Brown Embree on 29 Jan 1849 in Beaver Dams, Schuyler, New York. Children: Lucy Marie, Adaline Rebecca, Peleg Dwight, Elmer Winthrop. He died of illness in a regimental hospital at Harper's Ferry, West Virginia on 10 Dec 1864.
He served in the Civil War from New York as a private in the US Navy in the 5th Artillery, Company C.
