In 1861 he was living with his grandparents John and Mary plus 5 uncles and aunts in Horsley. Gloucestershire. [2]
In 1871 James was back with parents John and Hannah in Minchinhampton. He had 4 younger brothers. His father was and engine driver in a Cloth Factory. [3]
On 22 December 1890 James married Rose Turner at Fingal, Tasmania. [4]
