George Sr. Tanner was born about 1739 in Germany to John Christian Sr. Danner. They arrived at Philadelphia 2 Nov 1752 on the ship "Phoenix". George married about 1760 probably in Baltimore Co., MD to Hannah Snap (Neff)daughter of John Peter Sr. Neff & Susannah Copp. Their children were: John Charles m. Sarah Needy (Knode); Margaret m. John Fiery; Elizabeth; George Jr. m. 1st Elizabeth Shuster and 2nd Elizabeth Bremen; Murah H m. Henry H Hennestophel; Catherine m. Benjamin Parrish; Mary m. Mr. Tinny; John Jacob m. Ann Belt; John m. Rachel Cissel; and Christianna m. John Tipton. George Turner was naturalized 1761 at the Lutheran Church in Frederick, MD and he lived in Frederick in the 1760's. On the 1773 Tax List George Tanner was living in North Hundred of Baltimore Co. and on the 1783 Tax List. He owned about 150 acres including part of a tract called "Pettycoats Loose" located just south of Manchester, MD. He is George Tanner of Pipe Creek Hundred in the 1790 census and on the 1798 Particular Assessments List. He died about 1807 and Hannah died after 1820, both in Pipe Creek Hundred. There's no proof but it's logical to assume that he is buried in Kriders Cemetery with his father. (AFT-John Christian Tanner 1708-1784)
