He married Elizabeth Hess in 1810, in Virginia, United States.

In 1840, they lived in Monroe, Tennessee, United States.[11]
He died on 10 November 1866, in Monroe, Tennessee, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Hopewell Baptist Cemetery, Madisonville, Monroe, Tennessee, United States.[12]
