Louis Monroe Tate, my father, was born in Springfield, MO. He was from a family of seven children, son of John Robert Tate and Nuil Wilma Jones Tate. He left high school early and moved to the west coast to work in the shipyards. With the WWII winding down, he was a little young to join the war, but worked as a welder in the Long Beach Shipyards. His sister, my aunt Dorothy Tate Bonham, had moved out to the coast earlier. Louis Monroe Tate was born on 12/17/1926 and died on 02/11/2003.
