Jesse Clark Tate passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008, in St. John's Hospital. Jesse was born September 12, 1930. A true testament of his life was the large number of family and friends at his bedside when he passed on. Many knew Jesse through his ownership of A & B Cycle from 1962 to 1992. He was a member of Parkcrest Baptist Church, Woodland Heights Neighborhood Association, pas member of Sertoma Club, and the Show-Me Statesman Barbershop Chorus, but he was known for so much more. He was such a generous person to those around him, regardless to their station in life. He gave to the poor in spirit as well as those more blessed. Those of us who knew him also knew his strong work ethic and the desire to do a task right the first time. And what a battler. He possessed a perseverance in this life that was witnessed even at his deathbed. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, John Robert and Nuil Tate; his brothers, Norman, Lewis and Cecil; and sister Dorothy. Jesse is survived by his wife of 25 years, Naomi; three children, Ronald David and wife, Darla, Springfield, Susie Tate-Crossno, Neosho, and Tina Braden and husband, Tim, Springfield; his brother, Bob Tate and wife, Dot; sister Barbara Gray, Springfield. Jesse was blessed with seven grandchildren, Valerie Wehrenberg and husband, Michael, Daniel Tate, Darlene, Renee and Bryan Braden, and Hal and Laura Crossno. Also close to him was his surrogate son and daughter, Craig and Karla Carson and their four children, Ozark. He also had four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m., in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Funeral services will be Thursday, at 10 a.m., in Parkcrest Baptist Church, with burial following in Galloway Cemetery. Dad, we miss you but know we will see you soon. You are probably already giving tips to the Master Carpenter, or helping with plumbing or anything else needed in Heaven. That is just who you were here, and we loved you for that. But more than anything else, we know you are at peace.
