Martha was born during August of 1877 in Texas. She passed away in Conway, Arkansas on 28 May 1958 and was buried in the Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, Arkansas. [1]
24 Dec 1896: Miss Mattie Taylor and C. S. Ledford were married in Johnson County, Texas.[2][3]
1900 Census: Mattie and her husband Cal Leadford (26) are living in the Bird Township of Jackson County, Arkansas. The record notes that Mattie was 22 years old, born in Texas during August of 1877, and that she had been married to Cal for 4 years. The couple have one child, Pearl (2).[4]
1910 Census: Mattie and Calloway (36) Ledford have moved their family to Nashville, Arkansas. The record shows that Mattie was 32, born in Texas, and that she had been married to Calloway for 7 years. The couple now have 4 children in their home: Pearl (12), Clyde (6), Melvin (4), and Wirta (1).[5]
1920 Census: Mattie E. Ledford is living in the Mine Creek Township of Hempstead County, Arkansas. The record indicates that Mattie was a widow, 42 years old, and born in Texas. Mattie has 5 children in her home: Clyde N. (16), Melvin D. (14), Wirta L. (12), Wilbur G. (10), and Rex W. (5).[6]
