Robert Taylor was born 27 Sep 1871 in Medford, Kings County, Nova Scotia; he was Illegitimate. On the birth document his parents were John Taylor and Matilda Parsons who were married in 1850 in Chester, Lunenburg. The signature of the informant of the birth was John Taylor, Father, of Medford where the birth document was registered. The Deputy Registrar, James K Sapper signed the birth document.
In the 1891 Canadian Census, Nova Scotia Robert was 9 years and going to school; he had seven (7) siblings, all male, their names from oldest were: John, Hugh, James, Jessie, Joseph, Frank and George; their parents John, age 45 was from Ireland and a farmer, Mary age 38, was from Nova Scotia. They were all English speaking and of the Canadian Presbyterian faith.
On 4 May 1897, Robert Taylor, age 22, Bachelor married Clara McCully (surname later spelled McCullaugh), age 19, Spinster. At the time of Robert's marriage his profession was Mariner and he resided in Kingsport, Nova Scotia and Clara resided in Port Greville, Nova Scotia. Their parents John and Mary Taylor, and, John and Jane McCully attended the nuptials'.
In the 1911 Canadian Census, Nova Scotia Robert was 37 years, he lived in Port Greville with his Wife and four (4) children, his profession was a Master Mariner. He lived with his Wife Clara (34); Daughters, Stella (13), Ruby (7); and Sons Vaughan (7) and Harley (2). They were of the Methodist faith.
At the time of the 1921 Canadian Census, Nova Scotia, Robert Taylor (46) and Clara McCully (44) resided in Hantsport, Nova Scotia with their three children: Stella, Ruby, Vaughan and Harley. In this Census, Robert's middle name was Johnson, Clara's middle name was Alice. Robert and Clara's four (4) children lived at home and the family was of the Methodist faith.
Robert passed away 31 May 1932 of Bronchial Pneumonia, contributing causes were Asthma (first attack) and Myocarditis; according to the Death Certificate he was 57 years. Robert was a life long resident of Nova Scotia mainly living in the area of the County of Hants; Municipality of West Hants; City of Hantsport where he died. Robert was a “man of the sea” as a Master Mariner, working as Master of Tug Boats. His Parents were listed as John Taylor born in Cork, Ireland and Mary Parsons born in Kings County, Nova Scotia. Robert’s daughter Mrs. Clarance Riley (Stella, Jane [Taylor] Riley) of Windsor, Nova Scotia signed the Certificate of Registration of Death. Robert is Interned at the Methodist Cemetery, Port Greville, Nova Scotia; his Internment took place 5 June 1932. (Robert’s middle name “Johnson” was on the Registration of Death).
