About 1872 she married William Buckley. It appears William had a daughter, Annie, from a previous marriage. The 1880 census lists 16 year old Annie Buckley, who would have been born about 1866.

William and Sarah (Grist) Buckley were the parents of two children: Roger S. Buckley, 1872-1932 and William Buckley, 1876-?.

In the 1880 census Sarah is listed as Sarah Buckly, married, residing in the home of her parents, along with her children 9 year old Roger Buckly, 6 year old Willie Buckly, and 16 year old Annie Buckly. Her husband is not enumerated as a resident of this household.

In the 1900 census, Sara Buckley is residing with her parents, married 28 years, mother of 2 children, 2 of whom are living. Again, her husband William is not enumerated as a resident of this household.
