When Mary Joanna Taylor was born on August 6, 1852, in Rockwall, Texas, her father, Stephen, was 34, and her mother, Eleanor, was 29. She married Jere Benjamin Hart on February 1, 1872, in Palo Pinto, Texas. They had nine children in 18 years. She died on October 16, 1937, in Caddo, Texas, at the age of 85, and was buried in Palo Pinto, Texas.
