Clarence Lee was born Sept. 20, 1889 in Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri to William H./Levisa A. Lee-Taylor. He was given his mother's maiden name as his middle name.
1896 the family was still living in Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri..
All the children were born there until Freddie, 1898 when for some reason William decided to go to Indian Territory, Oklahoma, 385 miles southwest, to farm on Whiteman's farming land. " (To aid the drive toward Oklahoma statehood and the full assimilation of its Indian population, the U.S. Congress created the Dawes Commission in 1893. Another congressional law, enacted June 28, 1898, was sponsored by Charles Curtis, a mixed-blood Kansa Indian and senator from Kansas. With the passage of the Curtis Act, Congress took final control over affairs in Indian Territory."
The year is 1900 and the entire family moved to [2]United States Census, 1900 Indian Territory Choctaw Nation

M for male....last child born was Melvin in 1921 Kansas--
Clarence deserted her/4 kids in Kansas, after the 1920 census and when my dad was 3 years old. I am thinking that when Melvin was born it was just too much for Clarence Lee and he split...for California
(So all of this info is kinda right except I do not believe Kansas was allowing same sex marriages,)
Children
Clarence Roscoe (named for his dad)
Beulah Adeline (middle name Maternal Gramma Manis)
Herschel Lofton (middle name Maternal g-Grampa Manis)
Melvin Fred
Clarence went to California just after the 1920 census.
We have a copy of his social sec record that says he worked for the "O.N. Crafts (which is a carnival company) Address: 2123 Holly Dr. Hollywood, Calif."
He changed his name to TURNER, also his father's name from William TAYLOR to TURNER. He kept his birth date and state of birth MO. The Application date is: Feby. 16th 1937 and signed Clarence L. Turner...
Note: this is probably why he and Billie are not found on the 1930 census.
He and Billie Turner, his 2nd wife and his son Herschel Lofton, and Herschel's wife Jerry, the 4 of them traveled around California working on the carnival operating the bumper cars. And mom/dad lived in a tiny trailer they towed.
After WW II broke out Hersh got a job at Douglas Aircraft and we don't know if Clarence worked there as well. We believe Clarence and Billie moved back to Greeley Colorado about that time. Billie's family was in Greeley where, according to his death cert he was a "boiler maker" (Railroad)
1938 Las Vegas Nevada Clarence divorced Lulu and remarried
Sarah Belle Turner of Greeley, Colorado..(aka: Billie)
1940 Clarence and Billie apparently moved back to Greeley, Colorado.
